Reality TV personality and former Olympic athlete Caitlyn Jenner made a shocking revelation on Monday, claiming that she had fallen victim to a scam orchestrated by alleged hacker Sahil Arora, following the release of her JENNER memecoin on Sunday.
Expressing her frustration, Jenner took to X on Monday, writing, “F-CK SAHIL. He scammed us! BIG TIME!”
Caitlyn Jenner Accuses Sahil Arora of Scamming Her After Token Launch
According to crypto investigator Roxo, it was purported scammer Sahil Arora who was responsible for launching JENNER, acting as a “middleman” between the token and Jenner herself.
Roxo further alleged that after Jenner promoted the coin, Arora “dumped all the tokens from the deployer wallet and more he had sniped on burner wallets.”
“The team was clearly tricked and have no idea they’ve been swindled, it appears,” stated Roxo.
Nevertheless, despite the alleged fraud, Jenner continues to actively promote the memecoin, with the token’s market cap reaching approximately $22 million on Tuesday morning.
“That doesn’t mean I won’t be investing and continuing to promote $Jenner – but Sahil appears to be fully out, at the moment,” she stated.
Suspected Crypto Scammer Behind Launch of JENNER and RICH Memecoins
Several celebrities have faced penalties from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for unlawfully endorsing cryptocurrencies. This has led X users to express concerns that Jenner’s account had been hacked during the launch of the memecoin on Sunday.
In a video posted on X, Sophia Hutchins, Jenner’s assistant, reassured viewers that her account had not been hacked. Jenner herself confirmed the legitimacy of the token in another video after its release, stating, “Yes, this is for real. Get involved. It’s going to be very good. I’m very excited about it.”
American rapper Rich The Kid also collaborated with Arora to launch a token called RICH using Pump.fun, the creator of the Solana memecoin, over the weekend. However, he later accused Arora of scamming him in posts on X.
In a video posted on X Monday, the rapper expressed, “This guy pretty much made a pump-and-dump and dumped all the money into his account and blocked me.”
For context, a pump-and-dump scheme occurs when a scammer deceitfully promotes a token, only to sell off their shares when the coin reaches an inflated price, thereby causing its value to plummet.
Based on conversations Jenner has had, she stated on Monday, “I bet he won’t be launching many celeb coins again.”
In an interview with Decrypt, Arora denied the scam allegations, dismissing them as “dumb B.S.”
The legal consequences that Arora, Jenner, and Rich The Kid may face for promoting the memecoins remain uncertain.
