Worldcoin has announced that Argentina will now serve as its new regional operations center in the LATAM region. The company, known for its WLD token, plans to establish iris-scanning offices in over 10 cities and 50 locations across Argentina, as reported by Criptonoticias.

Executives from Worldcoin recently held meetings with government officials in Buenos Aires, including President Javier Milei, to pave the way for this expansion. The company has already scanned the irises of more than half a million Argentines in just 10 months, sparking controversy among lawmakers and regulators while attracting long lines outside their centers nationwide.

An unofficial resale market for Worldcoin has emerged, with many recipients exchanging their coins for fiat currency at a reduced rate. Worldcoin aims to make Argentina the hub of its operations in Latin America, with plans to open two educational centers for citizens to learn more about the technology and project.

The decision to focus on Argentina was influenced by a meeting with President Milei in San Francisco, California. Martin Mazza, regional manager of Worldcoin operator Tools for Humanity, stated that Argentina’s advanced technological ecosystem and skilled workforce make it an ideal location for the development of artificial intelligence and other projects.

Mazza emphasized that Buenos Aires will become a regional center for Worldcoin, aiming to deepen collaboration with the Argentinean community and promote AI development and financial inclusion in the country. This strategic move highlights the importance of Latin America for Worldcoin’s future growth, as the WLD token gains popularity in countries like Chile, Peru, Colombia, and Mexico.

In addition to Argentina, Worldcoin has also announced plans for expansion in Mexico, where it began operating in July 2023. Stay updated with the latest news by following us on Google News.
