Survey Finds Majority of US Gamers Unaware of Blockchain Games

A recent survey conducted by Onepoll.com has revealed that approximately 80% of gamers in the United States have not heard of or played blockchain video games.

The survey, which included 2,000 adult gamers, indicates a lack of awareness among US gamers when it comes to blockchain games and their potential benefits. Of the participants, 52% admitted to never having heard of blockchain games, while 32% were aware of them but had not tried them.

Despite the features offered by blockchain games, such as the ability to resell in-game purchases, many gamers have yet to explore these options. The survey found that 63% of respondents believe they should receive refunds for in-game purchases if a game is shut down, while 34% think players should have a say in such decisions. Interestingly, blockchain games already offer these features.

The survey also highlighted the issue of gamers investing significant amounts of money in virtual items. On average, gamers spend $6,425.13 on virtual items over their lifetime. Additionally, the average gamer is willing to spend $8.74 per month on in-game resources, weapons, and extra lives.

Unstoppable Games, a game developer, commissioned the study to coincide with the launch of its new Starknet-based game, Influence. Chris Lexmond, the founder and CEO of Unstoppable Games, emphasized the need for the gaming industry to better explain the benefits of blockchain gaming to gamers and encourage them to try out these experiences.

The survey findings suggest that there is a lack of awareness among US gamers when it comes to blockchain games and the features they offer. With the potential to address issues such as refunds for in-game purchases and the ability to resell items, blockchain gaming could provide solutions that gamers are seeking.
