Crypto scammers have recently targeted prominent influencers on the social media platform X (Twitter) using the handle GCR. Late on Sunday, GCR’s compromised X account posted a prediction about the price of the ORDI token, leading to a temporary increase in its value. The hacker also promoted ORDI and Luna 2.0 tokens, causing momentary price surges. GCR confirmed the hack and urged followers to disregard any promotional posts. GCR suspects that an individual at X.com was bribed to provide the login credentials, resulting in a security breach. The price of ORDI briefly rose from $40 to $44 before falling back, while Luna 2.0 experienced a 274% surge. Crypto observers have speculated that the hack may be part of a larger scam targeting celebrities and influencers. The incident has raised concerns about the security of X accounts and the potential for manipulation of the crypto market. This comes after other celebrity influencers, such as “Rich The Kid” and Caitlyn Jenner, have also promoted memecoins on X, leading to significant increases in their market values.
