MetaCore, a cutting-edge MMO combat game with a team of ex-developers from renowned companies like Activision, Disney, Lucasfilm, and Midway, has recently joined the行列 of the $2.4 billion universal gaming ecosystem, partnering with the gaming portal Portal. This blockchain-powered gaming hub, developed by Studio369, aims to simplify the Web3 onboarding experience by offering a single, user-friendly access point for integrating all Web3 games, digital assets, and accounts.
By integrating with Portal, MetalCore aims to address the two major pain points in the blockchain gaming industry: complexity and fragmentation across different ecosystems. The partnership seeks to break down barriers and attract millions of new gamers by providing a seamless gaming interface that eliminates the need for navigating blockchain bridges and liquidity pools.
Studio369’s CEO, Matt Candler, highlights the significance of this integration, stating that Portal is pioneering a connection between Web3 gaming that is “missing the mark” and requires AAA titles to support growth. The team, consisting of experienced Unreal Engine developers, has previously worked on high-profile games like Fortnite, The Walking Dead, and Gears of War, bringing decades of development expertise to the project.
In March, MetalCore raised nearly $19 million in a round led by Delphi Digital, BITKRAFT Ventures, and other investors, with a total of $18.7 million raised in three rounds. The funds will be allocated to further development and the introduction of innovative features, such as a dynamic mission system powered by AI.
MetalCore, known for its scanning system that allows players to obtain blueprints, craft new items, and convert them to Web3 assets, has already received recognition with awards like the Global Blockchain Show’s Best Blockchain Game and GAM3’s Best Shooter Game. The partnership with Portal adds a suite of services, including a wallet, companion app, multi-chain support, and a native token, the PORTAL token, which debuted with a valuation of $2.37 billion.
Justin Taylor, a member of the Portal team, emphasizes the importance of having innovative games accessible through their platform, stating that they aim to be the go-to destination for players’ favorite Web3 games. This alliance between MetalCore and Portal signifies a push towards a more interconnected and player-driven gaming ecosystem.
