Neel Somani, the founder and CEO of Eclipse Labs, has announced that he will be temporarily reducing his role as the public face of the company in light of serious allegations of sexual misconduct.
Somani took to the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to address the allegations, stating that he is innocent and ready to defend his reputation.
“Twitter has seen serious allegations made against me in the past week. While these allegations are untrue, allegations of sexual misconduct should be taken seriously and warrant a thoughtful response,” said Somani on X.
Eclipse Labs also took to social media to address the allegations, affirming its commitment to upholding professional standards and gender equality.
Eclipse Labs is a layer-2 blockchain scaling project based on Ethereum, with its headquarters located in San Francisco.
“Eclipse has capable senior leaders who are prepared to take on these responsibilities, allowing for these conversations to unfold and the truth about these allegations to come to light,” Somani said on X.
In March, Eclipse Labs announced that it had raised $50 million in a funding round to support the launch of its Ethereum network scaling solution.
The funding round was co-led by Placeholder and Hack VC, bringing the total raised capital to $65 million. Notable participants in the round included Polychain Capital, Delphi Digital, Maven 11, DBA, Apollo-managed funds, and Fenbushi Capital.
Eclipse Labs has also announced that it is currently hiring for various positions, including a Growth Engineer, Marketing Lead, and People Operations Manager, with a preference for candidates based in the Bay Area.
In December 2023, Eclipse launched a testnet with a focus on prioritizing developers. The platform aims to provide developers with an opportunity to build applications that leverage the project’s architecture by opening the mainnet to them.
Eclipse Labs is actively working towards promoting collaboration and interoperability between the Ethereum and Solana ecosystems. This approach enables applications built for Solana to seamlessly run on Eclipse with minimal modifications.
SOL tokens remain the primary currency within the Eclipse ecosystem, further bridging the gap between these two prominent blockchain platforms.
