Eugene Ng Fired by DWF Labs Following Accusations of Drink Spiking
DWF Labs, a technology company, has terminated one of its founding partners after he was accused of engaging in inappropriate behavior. The allegations surfaced on social media and assert that the partner attempted to spike a woman’s drink during a work-related meeting at a bar in Hong Kong. Due to the significant attention garnered by the incident, Eugene Ng, a founding partner at DWF Labs, has been immediately relieved of his management and operational roles. However, the company has not explicitly confirmed his identity.
DWF Labs Takes Action Against Partner Following Drink Spiking Allegations in Hong Kong
In an official statement, DWF Labs expressed its deep concern regarding the accusations. “We are deeply concerned about the recent allegations involving one of our partners, who has been accused of engaging in inappropriate and unacceptable behavior,” the company stated. As a result, Ng’s profile has been removed from the company’s team page, highlighting the seriousness with which DWF Labs is addressing the incident.
The alleged events occurred on October 24 during a meeting between the accused partner and a woman named Hana, who had connected with him for a professional discussion. According to Hana’s account, while she briefly left for the restroom, bar staff witnessed the partner tampering with her drink. When Hana returned and tried to switch her drink, he obstructed her efforts. Subsequently, Hana chose to leave and later reported feeling dizzy, further fueling her suspicion that her drink had indeed been tampered with.
Hana also shared a disturbing detail, alleging that the partner attempted to entice her to his accommodation, suggesting he would accompany her in a taxi and subtly proposing that she join him in a suite. Additionally, Hana claimed that he implied she would not have a direct role in a cryptocurrency project.
Repercussions for Ng: Social Profiles Disappear Amid Growing Drink-Spiking Allegations
In response to the incident, Hana sought assistance from local authorities, who reportedly provided CCTV footage of the alleged drink spiking. Hana stated that the partner’s behavior displayed a level of confidence that suggested it may not have been his first time engaging in such actions. She shared her experience and supporting evidence online, encouraging others to come forward.
Another user on the platform X, known as ‘Iris,’ claimed to have encountered similar tactics from the same individual, describing his approach as “extremely aggressive.” The fallout for Ng extended beyond DWF Labs, as his X account was swiftly made private and then deleted, and his LinkedIn profile was also taken down. Ng has an extensive background in finance, having previously worked at Barclays, Citi, and Deutsche Bank, and he established himself as a cryptocurrency industry advisor and the founder of real-world asset firm OpenEden. Prior to this, he served as the head of business development in Asia at Gemini.
While the investigation into the incident continues, DWF Labs is distancing itself from Ng, and public interest and scrutiny surrounding the case remain significant.
